CARY, N.C., January 21/PRNewsWire — Saffron Technology, Inc., a privately held disruptive big data analytics firm, announced today that industry veteran Gayle Sheppard has been named as Chief Executive Officer.

She succeeds Dr. Manny Aparicio, co-founder of Saffron Technology, who will continue as Saffron’s Chief Memory Maker, the technology visionary for Saffron’s underlying associative memory technology.

“Given Gayle’s 25 years of software industry experience and entrepreneurial leadership within successful brands in the sector combined with Saffron’s growing position in big data analytics, it is the perfect time for her to focus on our market execution, to position the company to deliver shareholder value and lead Saffron through its next phase of growth.” Aparicio said.

Ms. Sheppard has served as Saffron’s Executive Chair of the Board of Directors for the last four years and will continue to serve in this role. Prior to Saffron, Sheppard served as Vice President and Managing Director at PeopleSoft, Inc. where she turned around an under performing profit center in record time.  She was CEO and President of MarketMile, LLC where she led the development and launch of an application service business focused on serving American Express Corporate Purchasing Card Customers. Sheppard also led the development and growth of J.D.Edwards’ Asia Pacific businesses, the launch of J.D. Edwards in the Japanese market as President of J.D. Edwards Japan, K.K., and the global expansion of J.D. Edwards’ sales channels as Vice-President of World Wide Sales.

“Saffron is dedicated to building software that allows customers to make sense of massive amounts of disparate data in order to anticipate what will happen next and to make the best decisions possible. Our Customer conversations extend well beyond applying these new forms of sense making and predictive analytics inside their businesses. They are exploring how new intelligence assets built upon Saffron’s associative memory analytics can create breakthrough value delivery, greater return on mission and new revenue streams. They believe the winners here will be data-driven, customer centric organizations capable of delivering extreme accuracy in every touch point with their consumers and constituents,” says Sheppard.

“Gayle brings such passion, dedication and experience to the role. This is so clear from her prior experiences and time already with Saffron that the transition will be seamless. She is building a strong team around her, and she has a clear vision for the future direction of the company. This is a very exciting announcement for me personally, not only because it recognizes the excellence and the outstanding achievements of Gayle over the years, but it also feels great to know that the company is in very capable hands for the future…for our customers and our employees.  It is an exciting time!” Aparicio said.

Sheppard will assume her new role effective today, Jan. 22, 2013.
